awardsBest of Award of Excellence, The Wine SpectatorAfter being recognized by Wine Spectator magazine with an Award of Excellence every year since at least 1993 (as far back as our files go!), our list has been elevated to Best of Award of Excellence.As the magazine explains, "Our second-tier award, the Best of Award of Excellence was created to give special recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the requirements of the Award of Excellence; many are close to the Grand Award level. These lists display either vintage depth, with vertical offerings of several top producers from major regions, or excellent breadth spread over several winegrowing regions."In 2007, there were 3131 Awards of Excellence, 748 Best of Awards, and 76 Grand Awards. The Bay House also enjoyed the rarest of all designations: Our pricing was rated as "Inexpensive", a distinction shared by only 15 restaurants world-wide!At the time of entry (last January) our list contained 1025 selections. As of August 2007, our list has grown to nearly 1500 selections, possibly putting us in contention for a Grand Award in the not-so-distant future. If that should happen, we would be honored to be the only Grand Award winner with "Inexpensive" pricing!------------------------------------------------------------- Award of Unique Distinction, Wine Enthusiast MagazineFor 2007, Wine Enthusiast Magazine has selected our wine program for top honors in the state of Oregon!------------------------------------------------------------- 4-Stars, Northwest Best Places (2007, 16th Edition, Sasquatch Books, Seattle)We first received this award in 2004, the highest rating that this publication bestows. In 2007, The Bay House was one of only 3 restaurants in Oregon to be awarded at this level. (Paley's Place in Portland and The Cascade Dining Room at Timberline Lodge were the others. We're pleased to be in such prestigious company!)------------------------------------------------------------- 3-Diamonds, AAA (American Automobile Association)During our most recent evaluation, the inspector put us within 2-10ths of a single point of receiving the 4-Diamond award. She specifically commented that our crab cakes, "were the best I've ever had".
